Are you interested in a convenient way to purchase local foods and support Frederick County Farmers while staying safe during the Covid-19 pandemic? Frederick Fresh Online may be your answer!
From the comfort of your home, Frederick Fresh Online lets you view and order locally grown and produced vegetables, fruits, herbs, meats, garden plants, chocolate, flower bouquets, and more from six local producers every week at http://FrederickFreshOnline.luluslocalfood.com. The Ordering Window starts on Thursday’s at 8 a.m., and ends on Sunday at noon. Farmers pick and package your orders and bring them to the Urbana drop-off/pick-up location at Bar-T Mountainside (2914 Roderick Rd.). There they are aggregated and bagged for you before you pick them up (while practicing social distancing) on Wednesdays between 5 and 7 p.m.
This growing season is Frederick Fresh Online’s proof-of-concept pilot. There are no membership fees for customers during our pilot, but $3 is charged per order for covering supplies.
Frederick Fresh Online is an initiative of Community FARE (Food, Advocacy, Resources, Education) and the Frederick County Food Council. This online food hub, largely implemented by volunteers, is one way these organizations are achieving their goals to connect local farmers with local customers, increase markets for local farmers, support Frederick County’s agricultural economy, strengthen local food resiliency, and improve community and environmental health.
