We have big news about an upcoming event:
Renee Brooks Catacalos, author of The Chesapeake Table: Your Guide to Eating Local is coming to Frederick County!
Renee is donating her time as a fundraiser for the Frederick County Food Council’s work!
She will share a bit of her own experience eating/learning about food systems all over the Chesapeake region, talk about strategic food system work, and engage in some Q&A. Curious Iguana Bookstore will be on hand to sell books and Renee is happy to sign them. Renee is the Member and Strategic Partnerships Manager for the Sustainable Agriculture & Food Systems Funders. She will have a lot of wisdom to share.
The fee is donation based. Cash, checks and online donations can be given before or during the event. If you can’t participate, Please donate online here. (click the blue) When you make your online donation please indicate that it is for the Food Council. Bring a picnic lunch to enjoy beforehand and stay for the Food Council meeting following the talk.
Our spring quarterly meeting will immediately follow the talk with Renee. Please plan on staying for an additional 40 minutes if possible. If not, please share any thoughts via email so that they can be included in the agenda. You will receive the agenda in mid April.
Please support Connie in her work with the Frederick Food Security Network by sharing the flyer attached and heading over to the event. You can contact her to see what sort of help she might need with tables, crafts, and fun! Ray@hood.edu
The Steering committee is looking for participants for late summer/fall Food Council Adhoc Strategic Planning Committee; if interested will send draft template for thought. We hope to hear from some of you!
Happy Spring planting and eating, and we hope to see you on April 28th at 2:00 at Fox Haven Farm & Learning Center for Renee’s presentation.
